Sam's Seven
Vol 108: A new Japanese hotel, terry cloth pants, where I want to eat next time I'm in Paris + 4 more recommendations
1. Le Grand Café
Swooning over photos of Le Grand Café, located in Paris’s Grand Palais. Joseph Dirand designed the interiors and they look oh so beautiful.
2. Farm Rio Marys Tiles Embroidered Set
Always into embroidered matching sets like these shorts and blouse from Farm Rio. So easy for summer, but they can be broken apart and worn separately, so they’re great for travels and for wearing beyond a certain season.
3. Freda Salvador Sera Fisherman Sandal
I love, love, love my Freda Salvador Sera Fisherman Sandals so much and have worn them countless times over the years (enough to be resoled twice! Take care of your shoes and resole them and they’ll last a long time). I just picked these limited-edition black and turquoise studded ones from the store the other week and they’re such an outfit maker. The leather was a little stiffer than the suede initially, but after a few wears they’re already noticeably softer and I can’t wait to continue to wear them with truly everything.
4. Suzie Kondi Zephyra Terry Flare Pants
Living in San Francisco I’m always looking for non denim/non trouser pants to wear, and I’d love to get a pair of these Suzie Kondi terry Zephyra pants. I personally love the stripe (and they’re vertical - will make your legs look a mile long!), but they also come in tons of solid colors as well. They’d make the perfect beach vacation pant too since they’re terry, ideal for windy days or chilly nights.
5. Rosewood Miyakojima
Given I’m just about to have baby, my personal travels are curtailed for the time being, but I’ve been daydreaming about the new Rosewood on the tropical island of Miyakojima, part of the Japanese Okinawa archipelago. There’s so much of the country to explore beyond the usual Kyoto + Tokyo + Osaka (not that they’re not fantastic on their own), and some of my favorite places and experiences have been outside the bigger cities. Next on my Japan list is Miyakojima - Rosewood never disappoints and their new resort there looks pretty incredible.

6. Tylenol Muders
Did anyone watch the Tylenol Murders on Netflix? It came out earlier this summer, but I recently watched the three part docuseries and found it to be a fascinating, engaging show. I wasn’t familiar with the 1982 poisonings it’s centered around which was shocking and heartbreaking, although we all know the significant changes in product safety regulations that came out of the widespread panic and national recall. There’s a lot of questions left unanswered, but it’s worth a watch!
7. Baby Freedom Sweater
What is about little girls clothing that’s just so cute? This Americana sweater with the pink bow would be so sweet for July 4th festivities.
